Poetic Streaks #2 (especially for my birthday)

Poetic Streaks are poems/quotes written by the two men who live with me,my hubby and my soon-to-be ten year old son,22nd November is my birthday,so the poems below were their gifts to me along with the numerous smiles and colours they bring to my life.
The first poem, song actually, was written and was sung to me by my son,Abbu, all his original work without any help from me…
the rest were written by my hubby especially for my birthday, all his original work,I was pleasantly surprised and immensely happy for these beautiful gifts.it just made my day grand.

THE BIRTHDAY SONG
She sits in front of the laptop
working all day and night,
she looks so cute in front of the laptop
I wish she was my wife.
Today is her birthday,
her 37th birthday,
she looks quite young,
she is the best lady in the whole world.
Guess who she is?
The prettiest,my Mom.

-Mohammed Abdallah
(Abbu says he is very envious of his Dada because I am his wife,he asks me to marry him when he grows up,he proposes to me at least thrice in a week…but also doesn’t want his wife to be anything like me,hmmm…I know he’s little yet to know what he wants but he sure makes me feel very special)

NOVEMBER AND AUTUMN AND HER
November and Autumn leaves to me
are symbols of you…
for these leaves each blushing red
adorned with colours golden and orange
like an Indian bride…
so passionate…
burns in love and falls
to him…the ground…
trusts blindly…
loses her all for him…
leaves behind everything…
her family…her tree…her roots…
to be with him…
to touch him…
to belong to him…
to become one with him…
to lay her all on him…
so much like you these leaves…
my bride…my wife…
most beautiful…
like November…
like Autumn leaves…

-Taher Mohammed
(this poem I tweaked in a couple of places just to make it a bit more poetic, the next two poems/quotes were read to me exactly how those are,I didn’t add or remove anything)

bride1
YOU AND I
You are a strong woman
made from my weak rib

-Taher Mohammed

bride2
LIFELESS
I feel dead all those times
when I don’t have my eyes on your face…
basically I die each night
until I see you in the morning

-Taher Mohammed

Cupid Was Carrying A Gun (poem)

This poem was written for a writing challenge on Instagram for Marilyn Manson’s song `Cupid Carries A Gun’, now what kind of love it must be if Cupid was carrying a gun, an earth-shaking, world-rocking kind of love is what came to my mind, I hope you like my poem.

Any attempt at making sense
of the chaos in my heart ricocheted failure…
the earthquake that his footsteps caused
in this bloody vessel in my chest
had it’s contents getting tossed around…
…love I thought…would tiptoe…
…feel surreal…
but his love was catastrophic…
I could swear I was sure…
that this damn time…
…Cupid was carrying a gun…

Lost and Found: A Love Story (short story/poem)

Supermoon deserves a super tribute, don’t you think? A love story maybe?
There is nothing super about this short story/poem but it was appreciated when I wrote for a photo-prompt contest where I got the first place with the most number of plusses in my community on g+,I’m too bad at picture prompts, with that in my head,I set out to write only because I had to,then the picture started speaking and came this to me,even now I don’t think much about my write but I’m hoping you’ll like…
The following is a screenshot declaring the winners,it was a little something special, served as encouragement to me.

The fir tree for most of it’s budding years saw only dark
for it was surrounded by taller trees with denser barks…
it slowly with time started growing
and the true colours of the world started showing…
then on a dull night
it saw something bright but thin in the sky…
that crescent triggered unfamiliar emotions
the fir tree’s mind was blown…
in the coming days the tree saw it’s love grow
brighter mysteriously bigger till the crescent became whole…
the tree’s world came to a halt and it swooned
at the sight of the magical full moon…
the tree stretched itself for reaching
the source of light in which it was basking…
it was neither winning nor losing
for it felt pretty blessed to be sighting…
the most beautiful thing there is
it wanted to reach out and kiss…
only the thought of it made the tree blush
but the distance was far too much…
the tree swore by the moon’s glow
that while everyone falls in love it would instead grow…
to be able to touch
the one source of it’s joy and love…
…and to the fir tree and it’s love the moon was oblivious completely
for the moon had a billion more lovers who loved it insanely

Lost and Found,Before Her Love (short story/poem)

Before Her Love was written for a ten word prompt hosted by my dearest Sumyanna Writes, her poem Breathless also has this beautiful line `before her love’ in it,it inspired me to write something and because I was writing for this prompt I thought I’ll use this line as prompt too,so double inspiration from the fantastic Sumyanna (she does this very often to me,leaves me in awe and all inspired).
I hope it turned out worth reading to say the least.
In this short story/poem I wanted to only capture the state of this protagonist, that’s it,maybe it isn’t even a story, just a poem which shows how life without love is and how love can change people, for the better or for the worse…

(I’ve used all the ten words.)

before her love…
he carried a box of nails inside his chest that
nailed his voiceless desires to the gray wallpaper
of his 215 square feet room…
everything inside of him stayed there…
small spaced room…small spaced his heart…beat for nothing…
not for the full moon
or for warm sunshine in January…
not for rain
or for giggling laughter of children…
he dressed in darkness…
had an overt distaste for all things bright…
carried a decaying abyss inside…

before her love…
he kept ending up in rooms of pricey hotels
solely to cheat the dying of his soul…
but dead was he…
without a purpose and with no one to join him in the depths
his soul had withered thousands of days ago…

before her love…
he was sincere in his misanthropy…
despised company…
even his shadow was demure and an outcast…
he lived only because nothing had killed him yet…
there was a storm inside him…
a slow brewing intense storm…
waiting for the right time to drown him…

but…one cold February morning
from behind the veil of fog emerged she…
wearing bright yellow boots
like sunshine itself…
with a heart-melting smile on her glowing face…
with a hop in her step…
she stuttered straight into his heart
broke the chains around it and made a place for herself…
with a kiss served him a grain of life and sugar…
he washed it down with hope and light from her eyes…

there was chaos and storms inside him still
but he was now counted among the living…
she saved him…

love has that power…

Yellow (poem)

Yellow of Coldplay is one of my most favourite songs and I was more than happy to write for a writing challenge on Instagram with the song as prompt, we could write keeping the mood of the song in mind or simply for a word from the song or a line, I chose to write for the colour Yellow, also kept something of the song in the poem, Yellow’s a happy colour I think, so I wrote a happy poem, I hope you like, thank you.

YELLOW >>> https://youtu.be/yKNxeF4KMsY

nnyp
I knew him since I learnt why roses carried fragrance…
have felt his heartbeat in mine…
he was never a stranger…never distant…
I carried him in my veins…
his name flowed through me always…
going in circles entering and exiting my heart…
ever since I learnt that the heart beats in rhythm
I have danced to his tunes…
ever since I learnt how the sunflower only for the sun blooms…
I’ve always heard his silent footsteps
stumbling into my life resonate in my mind…
have always felt his warmth…felt our hands entwine…
I was always surrounded by his shadow
shadows that were never dark…always yellow…
like standing in blooming mustard fields
or on pavements covered with golden autumn leaves…
yellow shadows like smiles…like upside down sunny skies…
he brought yellow to my world…
even before my eyes recognised his face…
he still makes my days…
warm and bright…
each day when he wakes up by my side…
