SHE WAS AN AUBADE

a humble wildflower
bent when it rained …
flirted with the sun
like a sunflower
beaming at it throughout …
swayed with the wind when it blew …
in the night held dew drops and
when the moonlight fell on her
she did shine like a midnight moonstone …
and when the first lambent sunrays
touched those dew drops …
she herself looked like an aubade …
unlike a lily or a rose
she didn’t have a scent of her own …
but she too craved attention and gradually
with her resilience this wildflower
charmed the universe …
from being insignificant to becoming
the song of this garden of sounds where she dwelled
this little one was growing …
disturbed never the madness inside her
she grounded it deep in her roots to
hold on tightly to the initially reluctant mud …

… in her world which was dominated by rose gold hues
this muted flower stood out for it’s persistent aura

P.S. I have told you in one of my recent posts that I will be putting pictures of my art journal(not really great) here along with the posts and so I have, only poetry is not art enough to me I’ve discovered. I have myself painted the wildflowers and weeds here( I am so happy doing this), I will hopefully get better at this journaling with a little practice and trial and error so please bear with me, thank you.

To read another post on a Sunday like this on another resilient thing called love kindly click here. Thank you.
I hope you like my work and if you do please leave a comment, my website is self-hosted so the regular like button and some features are missing, until you leave me words I won’t know if you liked my poetry, so please, but only if you are compelled by my words to. Welcome to my world and I hope to see you again. Thank you.

Lost and Found: A Leaves’ Story (short story/poem)

This short story/poem was written for a ten-word prompt by my very talented and dearest friend Sumyanna who writes amazingly beautiful,do check her blog,it is inspiring and breathtakingly beautiful and I always end up crying at the beauty of her words and I’m deeply grateful to Sum for her friendship and inspiration and prompts which give new dimension to my poetry(in my humble opinion)…
and like I said in my previous posts that I’m still in Autumn mode so this too was written keeping the splendid autumn leaves in mind and though my friend Sumyannna’s prompt requires me to use three words minimum I always use all,it helps my poem expand, some more length is good isn’t it? I’ve loved writing,I hope you like reading.

Two leaf-buds of
different trees…
the tips of the branches
of which
almost managed
to graze each other
each time the wind blew
one towards the other
fell in love
at first sight…
while these leaves
yearned to touch
and hear the other’s voice
waiting was all they did
in addition to
being punished
by the gentle teasing
of the senses
by their shy glances…

waiting through summer and rain
for autumn to wither…
to shed their inhibitions…
to get acquainted…
to finally meet…
to be blown by the wind
to dance together
a waltz or a foxtrot
like in their dreams they did…
they had a doubt too…
wondered if the other
was just as madly in love…
wondered if this
bubble of a world
of which the base
was love
would just pop upon
knowing the other’s heart…
worried if the
death that they now
so desire and looks so sweet
would kill their hearts too…

soon came the autumn wind
and shook them
off of the trees…
they
giddy with anticipation
floated and glided happily…
all worry was laid to rest
when they saw
the same desperation
and eagerness in the other
to reach out to touch…
their hearts were introduced
to a joy and peace
and excitement
they never had expected…
their hearts beat
to the same rhythm
and for brief moments
the leaves swirled together…

but very soon
a violent wind
blew them apart
and carried them
over shaved wheat fields…
one leaf was carried
and mercilessly hooked
to a barbed wire fence…
the other was thrown on a
flowing stream instead…
the leaf that was on the fence
looked helplessly
while the love of it’s now dying life
drifted out of sight…
the other leaf
that was powerless too and
too frail to fight the current
of the running brook
fought in vain to get one last look
but was pushed away ruthlessly…
born for each other they were
but never meant to be…
together…

Lost and Found: A Love Story (short story/poem)

Supermoon deserves a super tribute, don’t you think? A love story maybe?
There is nothing super about this short story/poem but it was appreciated when I wrote for a photo-prompt contest where I got the first place with the most number of plusses in my community on g+,I’m too bad at picture prompts, with that in my head,I set out to write only because I had to,then the picture started speaking and came this to me,even now I don’t think much about my write but I’m hoping you’ll like…
The following is a screenshot declaring the winners,it was a little something special, served as encouragement to me.

The fir tree for most of it’s budding years saw only dark
for it was surrounded by taller trees with denser barks…
it slowly with time started growing
and the true colours of the world started showing…
then on a dull night
it saw something bright but thin in the sky…
that crescent triggered unfamiliar emotions
the fir tree’s mind was blown…
in the coming days the tree saw it’s love grow
brighter mysteriously bigger till the crescent became whole…
the tree’s world came to a halt and it swooned
at the sight of the magical full moon…
the tree stretched itself for reaching
the source of light in which it was basking…
it was neither winning nor losing
for it felt pretty blessed to be sighting…
the most beautiful thing there is
it wanted to reach out and kiss…
only the thought of it made the tree blush
but the distance was far too much…
the tree swore by the moon’s glow
that while everyone falls in love it would instead grow…
to be able to touch
the one source of it’s joy and love…
…and to the fir tree and it’s love the moon was oblivious completely
for the moon had a billion more lovers who loved it insanely

Lost and Found,Before Her Love (short story/poem)

Before Her Love was written for a ten word prompt hosted by my dearest Sumyanna Writes, her poem Breathless also has this beautiful line `before her love’ in it,it inspired me to write something and because I was writing for this prompt I thought I’ll use this line as prompt too,so double inspiration from the fantastic Sumyanna (she does this very often to me,leaves me in awe and all inspired).
I hope it turned out worth reading to say the least.
In this short story/poem I wanted to only capture the state of this protagonist, that’s it,maybe it isn’t even a story, just a poem which shows how life without love is and how love can change people, for the better or for the worse…

(I’ve used all the ten words.)
prompted6

before her love…
he carried a box of nails inside his chest that
nailed his voiceless desires to the gray wallpaper
of his 215 square feet room…
everything inside of him stayed there…
small spaced room…small spaced his heart…beat for nothing…
not for the full moon
or for warm sunshine in January…
not for rain
or for giggling laughter of children…
he dressed in darkness…
had an overt distaste for all things bright…
carried a decaying abyss inside…

before her love…
he kept ending up in rooms of pricey hotels
solely to cheat the dying of his soul…
but dead was he…
without a purpose and with no one to join him in the depths
his soul had withered thousands of days ago…

before her love…
he was sincere in his misanthropy…
despised company…
even his shadow was demure and an outcast…
he lived only because nothing had killed him yet…
there was a storm inside him…
a slow brewing intense storm…
waiting for the right time to drown him…

but…one cold February morning
from behind the veil of fog emerged she…
wearing bright yellow boots
like sunshine itself…
with a heart-melting smile on her glowing face…
with a hop in her step…
she stuttered straight into his heart
broke the chains around it and made a place for herself…
with a kiss served him a grain of life and sugar…
he washed it down with hope and light from her eyes…

there was chaos and storms inside him still
but he was now counted among the living…
she saved him…

love has that power…

Lost and Found,Web Or Bridge (short story)

She was now forever trapped
in that vacuum sealed moment
in which they first met…
she had to be in denial of her feelings for him
if she didn’t want to depart from her peace of mind…
loving him was a struggle with herself
and a surrender too …
his pull was too strong to resist
and her will too weak…
but she cannot give in for
how does she hold him
when he feels the need for warmth
the whole world being the distance between them…
but then she was ready to cross that distance too
if her words would suffice…
for she had only words to give…
to win his heart…
or would these very words jeopardize
her hopes of a possibility of an intimacy
she wanted to develop with him…
would these words become a web
in which her appeal suffocates and dies
or would they become the bridge…
….she wondered…
