The 2022 Peking University "Boya M-Talents" National Doctoral Academic Forum of Materials Science (PKU) was successfully held at Peking University from 23 to 25 September. This event celebrates the second anniversary of the School of Materials Science and Engineering (SMSE), which is sponsored by SMSE, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, and the Nanomaterials and Devices Branch of the Chinese Materials Research Society. The forum included the opening ceremony, three themed sub-forums, the closing ceremony, and the awards ceremony. Participants and graduate students from 23 universities and Scientific Research Institutions across the country had extensive discussions during this forum,and gained knowledge and experience through their collision and exchange of different viewpoints.

The opening ceremony

The Forum’s opening ceremony was held in the Peking University Library Science Lecture Hall on September 23rd, 2022. The opening ceremony was hosted by the assistant dean of SMSE, Ting Lei . The vice president of Peking University and the dean of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Jin Zhang, gavean enthusiastic opening speech to encourage every participant to enjoy brain storming and make friend shere.

In the presentation session, academician Buxing Han from the Institute of Chemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences, academician Yongfang Li from the Institute of Chemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences, academician Chunming Xu from the China University of Petroleum, and academician Yuguang Ma from the South China University of Technology contribute dplenary talks to the participants.

From September 24^thmorning to September 25^thmorning, the thematic sub-forums were held at the Yingjie Communication Center of Peking University. The forums focused on the topics of "Green energy materials for national dual carbon strategy", "Photoelectric display materials, carbon materials, and two-dimensional materials", and "Biomedical materials and structural materials", which were keynoted by the special guests.Studentsof 90 shortlisted papers presented their research accomplishment. The judges commented on each student's report, gave opinions and suggestions, and especially recognized the new generation of researchers' academic vision and innovation consciousness.

To further highlight the outstanding achievements of participant students, the poster section was heldon September 24^thevening, at the Global Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of Peking University.There were 65 posters exhibited in total. Their informative, distinctive, and rigorous contents attracted many professors and students to enjoy.

Closing ceremony and award ceremony

On September 25^thafternoon, the closing ceremony of the forum and the award ceremony were held in the Moonlight Hall of the International Exchange Center of Peking University, hosted by the assistant dean of SMSE, Ting Lei. Vice President of Peking University and Dean of Shenzhen Graduate School, Academician Jin Zhang, and Vice dean of Shenzhen Graduate School, Professor Feng Pan, respectively delivered reportsen titled 'Exploration of Controlled Preparation and Application of Alene Carbon Fiber' and 'ConstructionAnd Application Of Graph Theory Based Structural Chemistry For Novel Energy Materials'.

The subsequent award ceremony honoreda total of 20 outstanding report awards and 22 outstanding poster awards. Professors of the school and the college conferred honorary certificates on the winners.

At last, Professor Ruqiang Zou Secretary of the Party Committee of SMSE, officiated the closing ceremony speech. He first expressed his gratitude and high respect to the participants, organizing committeeand volunteers, and congratulated the award winners. Secretary Ruqiang Zou pointed out that this forum had three new aspects: First, the second anniversary of the establishment of the SMSE brings new opportunities; Second, the participating teachers and students present novel achievements; Third, through the excellent reports of outstanding doctoral students, we had 'new' confidence in the future development of materials discipline. Finally, Secretary Ruqiang Zou  expressed his ardent expectations to the doctoral student's deputies, hoping that everyone would keep in mind the original mission of the material researchers, be committedto action, work hardand take practical actions to welcome the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Party!
