The Moon’s Phases-My Theory (poem)

The Moon’s phases are a result of…well there’s a scientific theory which is kind of boring and not so lovely,so here I write about a possibility(a fact in my head though)…don’t you feel like the moon breathes, sighs, loves and drowns in sorrow, lights up in love,I feel so,yes,I know that maybe I cannot get away from feeling that way if I let everyone onto how I feel about things but I can always write about it,right?
So,this is my theory on why I think the moon phases, yes, absolutely, the whole world revolves around me,so obviously the moon’s phases too have to do something with me and my life,I believe that(giggles),you should too…repeat after me…the whole world revolves around me(chuckles)…well done, now believe it…

Every once in a while
the moon burns itself out…
fiercely…
it’s ashes dissipate…
it’s reduced to dust…
all because of envy…
it cannot comprehend
but also cannot deny…
that none can love it
more than I love your
dazzling glistening eyes…
it takes a while…
for it to recover…
to collect itself again
from across space…
and this charade…
the rest of the
earth’s inhabitants…
call the moon’s phases

  1. I really love this! So well written! Anything with the moon draws a reader in, and you talked about something different, the moon’s phases, which make it so unique.

    • Thank you very much for your time and kind words,I always try to not write something that is already written,I’m glad that you like, welcome to my world 🙂 Happy New Year.

  2. Smiling as I read this. Really Love this one Seema!

  3. Ahhh – you are just too good these days! I swear, Seema. 🙂 You have such a beautiful way of conveying your thoughts and filling them with emotion. Text being text, it’s easy to make it feel bland and shallow, with no lasting impact on the reader and really no moving feelings; a lot of my poetry, especially my older stuff, comes out like that. I think because it’s not really personal feelings, just practice. But yours is full of it, every time. Full of love and care and inner thought – everything that poetry should be.

You know I love the moon and night sky. I think you should totally submit your theory for scientific publication lol. 😀 You could call it.. “The Tabassum Effect.”

    • haha,Eve`Tabassum Effect’ sounds good 🙂 I have to thank you immensely for your very kind words Eve,though I have to say that I was the one always in awe of your poetry,I still am,and my poetry too is more about practice Eve but your comment here I am going to cherish and use it to feel good about my writing, thank you for stopping by Eve,it means a lot, love and hugs and best wishes for the New Year, hope it’s your best yet 🙂 God bless.

  4. Your writing is spot on as usual…what I really enjoyed about this piece is the originality of thought…

    • Thank you very much Sandy, your time and kind words are most appreciated my dear friend,I tried to write something which never was written and came up with this,I’m happy you like it…love and hugs and all the best wishes for the New Year.
