报告主题:基于单壁碳纳米管的一维范德华异质结构(One-Dimensional vdW Heterostructures Based on Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes)

报告简介:The coaxially nested one-dimensional (1D) vdW heterostructure based on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) can expand the board application possibilities of 1D materials. Semiconductor SWCNT or chirality-sorted SWCNT wrapped with BNNT can be regarded as the ideal building blocks of field-effect transistors (FET). By comparing the optical properties of films of BNNT@MoS2NT and SWCNT@BNNT@MoS2NT, we found strong photoluminescence (PL) from monolayer MoS2NT and quenching of PL by coupling to SWCNT through thin BNNT. The inter-tube excitons are demonstrated by ultrafast optical spectroscopy. The inter-tube excitons, the counterpart of inter-layer excitons for 2D heterostructures, suggest a possibility of efficient photovoltaic applications of the 1D heterostructure. More specific optical properties are studied for semiconductor SWCNTs and chirality-sorted SWCNTs.

主讲人:Shigeo Maruyama

Shigeo Maruyama, FRSC, received his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo in 1988. Since 2014, he has been a Distinguished Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo. His research interests include nanoscale thermal engineering, molecular dynamics simulations, carbon nanotubes, graphene, 1D heterostructures, and solar cell applications. He developed the alcohol catalytic chemical vapor deposition (ACCVD) process for synthesizing single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) in 2002. More recently, he has developed 1D van der Waals heterostructures based on SWCNTs, where SWCNTs are co-axially wrapped by hexagonal boron nitride nanotube (BNNT) and TMD nanotubes. He served as the president of “The Fullerenes, Nanotubes, and Graphene Research Society” during 2011–2020 and is the co-chair of the steering committee of “International Conference on Science and Application of Nanotubes and Low-Dimensional Materials” (NT).
